What is FEES?

The Onsite Imaging Option

Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) is a specialized imaging procedure performed by a trained Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to diagnose swallowing difficulties.

A thin, flexible scope is gently passed through the nose to directly view the throat, larynx, and airway while the patient consumes real food and drink with a small amount of food coloring.

FEES is safe and well-tolerated with extensive research supporting its clinical utility.
